Tobias Rathjen detailed his extremist views in a 24-page manifesto posted to a now-deleted website in which he vowed to wipe out entire countries including Israel, most of the Middle East, some Asian nations, North Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Germans who he considered to be ‘impure’.
Rathjen wrote: ‘The following people must be completely exterminated: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the complete Arabian Peninsula, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines.’
He also called for genocide.

“We now have ethnic groups, races or cultures in our midst that are destructive in every respect,” he wrote, saying he envisioned a “rough cleaning” first and then a “fine cleaning” that could cut the world’s population in half.
“The following people must be completely exterminated: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the complete Arabian Peninsula, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Usbekistan, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines,” he wrote.
BERLIN—Late Wednesday night in the central German city Hanau, a gunman that police have identified as 43-year-old Tobias Rathjen opened fire at two shisha bars. They’re the kind of places favored by people who enjoy a laid-back atmosphere as they puff tobacco bubbling through water-filled hookahs, and on any given evening, many of those folks may be from Turkish, Kurdish, or North African backgrounds.
But Rathjen just started blowing people away. He first opened fire at a hookah bar called Midnight in the center of Hanau. He then drove five minutes away to the Arena Bar and Cafe, where he opened fire again. He killed nine and injured several others at the two locations, then fled.
Police swarmed into the neighborhood. When they tracked Rathjen down and stormed his apartment at 5 a.m., they found his dead body next to that of his 72-year-old mother. Apparently he had shot her, too.
German shooter reportedly wanted to ‘eliminate’ Israel, other Mideast countries
Attacker who killed 10 in city of Hanau said to have published online manifesto calling for destruction of entire states in Asia, Africa, and killing their populations
The shooter who murdered 10 people in the German city of Hanau on Wednesday was a far-right extremist who reportedly said he wanted to exterminate people from Asia, North Africa and Israel.
The alleged shooter left behind a video and a 24-page manifesto in which he said certain peoples “must be completely destroyed,” according to German news reports.
The manifesto calls for eliminating entire countries, including Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Iran, Indian, Pakistan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
“I would eliminate all these people, even if we are speaking about billions of people. It has to be done,” the manifesto said, according to the Financial Times, which said it had seen the document.
Far-right motive suspected in German shooting attack that left at least 9 dead
Federal agencies take over probe after reports that gunman who attacked two hookah bars may have left confession letter, video of extremist views
German news agency dpa reported that police are examining a video the suspect may have posted online several days earlier in which he details a conspiracy theory about child abuse in the United States. The authenticity of the video couldn’t immediately be verified.
Hanau is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Frankfurt. It has about 100,000 inhabitants and is in Hesse state.
